I was born in Birjand, a city with hot and dry weather in eastern Iran. The city is known for its saffron (the world's most expensive spice), barberry, rug and handmade carpet exports. I moved to Tehran, capital of Iran, to continue my education at Amirkabir University of Technology. After getting my M.Sc. degree in Tehran, I got married and then moved to U.S. to pursue my Ph.D. degree at University of New Mexico. After graduation, I worked at Visa Research as a research scientist for two years, and then joined the Infrastructure Data Science Team at Facebook.
